Firefighters from both South and West Yorkshire’s fire services have been tackling a fire at a derelict care home in Doncaster this evening (Saturday 27 April).
Crews were called at 3pm to Lodge Road, Carcroft to reports of a building fire. Upon arrival they found the ground floor or a two storey, former care home, well alight.
The fire, which has affected over 50 percent of the building, was dealt with by over 30 firefighters.
Nobody is understood to have been injured in the fire and the cause is currently under investigation. Crews are expected to remain on scene for the rest of the evening damping down, having surrounded and extinguished the blaze using breathing apparatus and a variety of jets.
At its height appliances from Adwick, Edlington, Doncaster, South Kirby and Pontefract were in attendance.
