A man has been rescued by firefighters following a fire at his flat on Scraith Wood Drive in Sheffield.

Fire crews from Elm Lane, Rivelin and Central stations were called to the ground floor flat at 8am on Wednesday morning.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the flat and rescued the man who was then taken to hospital by ambulance.

The fire crews used hose reels to extinguish the fire.

An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire.
