Arson is down 25 per cent across South Yorkshire
27 June 2010

Firefighters have successfully contained a large fire at an industrial estate in Doncaster.

Eight fire engines were called to the incident on Lincolnshire Way, Armthorpe, Doncaster at around 4.30am on Sunday morning. A 100m x 100m pile of wooden pallets was well alight and spread to a nearby trailer.

At its height, flames were shooting more than 300ft in the air. But firefighters battled hard to contain the fire, stopping it spreading to electricity pillons and industrial units just metres away.

No one was injured and no houses were evacuated. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
