Rotherham fire station is to play host to a group of young people who are striving to get back into education or employment.
Rotherham Community Fire Station on Fitzwilliam Road is offering free use of its community space and ICT facilities to the Integrated Local Solutions (ILS) group.
ILS will be running a 12 week course for 15 young people aged between 16–18 who are currently not in education, employment or training.
The course, which begins on the 1st June, will equip participants with the right skills to get back into education and employment.
South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue will assist the course by offering first aid training and a firefighter experience. All 15 students will also be given a free Home Safety Check within their family home.
Station Manager Shaun Pilley said “This is a great opportunity for the fire service to get involved with the local community and to be able to help this group of young people prepare themselves for their future careers”.
