South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue - Working For a Safer South Yorkshire

Keeping people safe

SYFR

We see protection and prevention as the key to maintaining South Yorkshire as a safe place to live. We are committed to providing education and advice to all communities in South Yorkshire, to reduce the likelihood of emergency incidents arising. Working with our partners, as members of the newly formed Local Area Agreements (LAAs), we will also pursue initiatives and strategies aimed at improving community resilience and quality of life.

A risk based approach is used to help identify those areas where we will focus our resources. The risk assessment process used to identify those people most at risk of fire and injury can also be used to idenify other community needs.

What is an Integrated Risk Management Plan?

All Fire Services are required to produce an Integrated Risk Management Plan (IRMP) which outlines arrangements for delivering the Fire and Rescue Service over a three year period.

The plan details arrangements for reducing risk to communities and firefighters and considers an integrated approach to prevention, protection and intervention.

The IRMP ensures that we can effectively deal with the changing risks to life and community safety by transferring, or re-directing our resources from simply reacting to emergencies to preventing them from occurring in the first place.

This enables us to deploy our resources in the most effective and efficient way to address existing risks and reduce future risks.
