Around 20 firefighters have spent the night tackling a large barn fire at Fox Farm in Wentworth.

Fire crews were called to the blaze at around 1.20am and found the 80 x 50m barn well alight. Firefighters from Dearne, Tankersley, Elm Lane and Rotherham stations quickly got to work containing the fire to prevent it from spreading to nearby buildings. Two neighbouring houses were evacuated as a precaution but firefighters successfully managed to prevent the fire from spreading.

The barn, which was full of hay, was completely destroyed in the incident. An investigation into the cause of the fire started after the fire was put out.
