A Sheffield newsagents was badly damaged by fire in the early hours of Tuesday morning after the motor on a drinks chiller overheated.

Firefighters from Mansfield Road and Darnall arrived at United News on Ballifield Drive in Handsworth at just after 1am to find smoke coming from the property.

Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus went into the shop to extinguish the fire, and discovered no-one was inside.
